You can thank Kristen Bell for the inspiration for this blog today. In People Magazine they had a feature on 75 gifts for the holidays where they interviewed some celebrities on what they would recommend. Kristen Bell mentioned a FEED India pouch among other items as a great and charitable gift for the holidays. I thought the pouch was beautiful and so I figured I'd look up these pouches. Little did I know that there was a web site called FEED projects where items are sold and the proceeds go to feeding children around the world.

In 2006, fashion model and activist Lauren Bush designed a bag to help the United Nations World Food Programme's (WFP) School Feeding program. Bush was a WFP Honorary Student Spokesperson and was able to travel the world and experience the plight of the people she came across. The program fed and educated hungry children across the world. Bush first created the Feed 1 bag which represented that the proceeds of one bag would be able to secure food for one child for a full school year. In 2007, Lauren Bush founded FEED Projects LLC with the help of Ellen Gustafson to create and sell these bags.

FEED Projects has an impressive track record--they have been responsible for feeding over 60 million school children around the globe. They have also partnered with UNICEF and helped provide children with supplements that are much needed around the world. FEED also stared a nonprofit organization in 2008 called the FEED Foundation which has a mission to end malnutrition and hunger around the world.

The web site has so many cute offerings. They have bags, apparel, accessories, holiday gifts and custom bags. They have the chance to FEED India, FEED Guatemala, FEED Kenya, FEED Kids & Baby, etc. Their mission is simple. They desire to help FEED the world. Lauren Bush has started an amazing organization and I think you would be really impressed by their products.
